Traditionally known as the ‘gateway to West Cork’ Bandon is so much more. Only 20 mins from Cork Airport and 35 minutes from Cork City and 1hr from Killarney. It is the perfect spot to explore so much more of the County and surrounding areas (and enjoy a few activities locally as well). Here are some examples of the types of activities you can enjoy locally and in surrounding areas.

Golf

West Cork’s Premier Golfing experience since 1909, the course is set over 130 acres of fertile land in the Bandon River valley. The golf course is a Par 71 parkland layout set amongst mature woodlands and natural hazards and is bounded by the original estate walls that date back to the 1700s.

The river Bandon is a most scenic and prolific game fishing river flowing through some of the most picturesque country side in West Cork.

Traditionally a market town, Bandon still boasts three markets to this day.

Come along every Friday and Saturday morning 8:30-13:00 to pick up the freshest most delectable savouries, cakes, jams, chutneys, locally sourced honey, milk, free range eggs and anything else you can think of.

Bandon Farmers Market
Every Saturday morning the car park of the Old Market Garden buzzes as the community come out in force to sample the very best of local produce at the Bandon Farmers Market. Set up in 2006 by a local voluntary organisation, it's not just the food that is organic at this vibrant weekly market. The committee set up the market, based around their love of fine food and it certainly doesn't disappoint on that front.

Visitors to the market are treated to a wealth of local and artisan produce. The market runs every Saturday from 9.30am-1.30pm.

It is often said that Bandon is '7 miles from 7 beaches' and Bandon is the perfect base from which to take spin and enjoy a day of sand, sea and sun. We list some of them below but West Cork is blessed with amazing coastline so these are just the tip of the iceberg.

The Warren Beach: ok this is a little further afield, but it is a fabulous beach for a daytrip. There is also a cliff walk that leads from the beach to Owenahincha on the other side of the cliff.
